I remember the first one and I think I might have seen the second one, can't be sure; but that only means I can watch all of them this season and it'll be like I'm watching it for the time.

I have a pretty extensive collection of Christmas films including "Miracle on 34th Street" and "Holiday Inn" etc. But I think my favorite is "A Christmas Carol" I have a copy of every version made I think. But my favorite of those is the 1951 Alistair Sim version. And if you think that Santa doesn't show up in "A Christmas Carol" those in the know understand the the Ghost of Christmas Present is Father Christmas/Santa/St Nicholas! He's supposed to start out young in the first part of the act with a brown beard but by the end of the act he has a long white one!

One particular memory I have of A Christmas Carol is a rather whimsical illustration, drawn by artist Peter De Seve for The New York Times. In it, Ebenezer Scrooge is being visited by Marley's Ghost and the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. The four, have apparently decided to reward ol' Scrooge by demonstrating their musical talents. I seem to vaguely remember Christmas Past playing a violin; Present, a French horn; Future, a lute; and Marley's Ghost, a tuba. These are guesses, I'd like to make that clear; the only way I could discover the reality is by accessing the picture online, assuming one can properly explore the Times' Online Archives.

One of my favorites is "Bedtime for Sniffles", a Merrie Melodie cartoonfrom 1940 with Sniffles the mouse trying his hardest to wait up for Santa Claus to arrive. Not a real funny cartoon, but thought provoking and cute.

One of My favorite Santa Movies is one I know the rest of You would absolutely HATE.
I Loved 'Santa Who?' and of course 'Elf','Polar Express' was so powerful and moving.
A Christmas story was perfect because Gene Sheppard showed the world as it really was, in real life the funniest things are the most preposterous.
But while 'Bad Santa' bored Me senseless I found another dark Santa comedy that I am sorry to say I cannot stop laughing at.
It is New Line pictures 'Santa's Slay'.
I am first to say IT IS NOT FOR KIDS!! but it is silly Monty Python type over the top comedy that shamelessly wallows in sight gags and deliberately bad puns.
Anyone who likes for comedy to be WAY over the top should enjoy this film.
It is a preposterous "what if?" Santa, a Nordic Bully who is pulled in a sleigh built from a Viking long boat by Berserker, the red nosed Helldeer - a flying buffalo .
it is violent in a Monty Python manner.
It is not a movie for Kids (like Bad Santa wasn't) but there is a lot for grown ups to laugh at in this movie.

I have enjoyed the Miracle on 34th Street many times and always look for whenit is on TV around the Holidays.
Elf was very humourous but not very believable.
I enjoyed the beginning of Santa Claus the Movie with Dudley Moore but felt the director took the wrong turn with it half way through the movie.
i have been toying with an idea for a movie and have written down about 30 pages but without major training in this area I probably will never finish the story but the premise I think has some potential for a play or movie.
My favorite movie is the animated clay version called Santa Claus comes to Town. The cast was very good and the movie brought everything together as to how Santa got his name of Kris Kringle and how it was changed to Santa Claus.
Does anyone remember Mrs. Claus name?
I have asked many children this question and surprisingly enough many do remember her name.
I have had to ask some of the parents the same question and have found many have grown up with this movie.

For what it's worth Santa Jim ALL the critics leveled the same complaint about 'Santa Claus The Movie' that you did, that it started out pertinent then became totaly pointless.
That is why a great many people never watch it hardly, if a film has some classic elements that does not make it a classic, there can be (as in the case of that film) elements that undermine the best parts of it.
As Stan Lee once said it is not suprising how many BAD movies get made , what is astounding is just how many GOOD films get made every year, every single element can work or fail.
Too many good ideas that do not film well can make for a compromised if not bad film.

Shure 'ELF' was not believeable, what good is a Christmas film without whimsey? it would be like a Halloween themed movie or show without scares.

But you can't beat 'Miracle on 34th street' but i am a purest, i only watch the original and only when it is Black and White.
