Many of the folks on ClausNet stood with 600 or so of us in March of 2009 to hold hands, while in unison we recited the Eight Principles of the Santa Claus Oath!

That was a very moving and emotional experience for most everyone who participated, a magical moment in time that cannot be recaptured!
Many, Many thanks to the authors, Phil and Mike!

Since that time, the Palm Tree Santas have held 7 different events in various cities in Florida. At each of these gatherings, collectively our management team makes sure we stand, hold hands and recite the Eight Principles of the Santa Claus Oath. Sometimes we have video and are able to show on a large screen, sometimes we print out enough copies so everyone has a copy to refer to. For us, the Palm Tree Santas, this serves in a way as our Santas "Pledge". We feel it really adds a certain Santa reverence to our Claus get-togethers!

If your group doesn't practice this, may I suggest you give it a try!

Thank you Bob!

Just to clarify though, Phil is the true author of the Santa Claus Oath. My contribution to the Oath was the last line:

I pledge myself to these principles as a descendant of Saint Nicholas the gift giver of Myra.

Phil and I designed the Santa Claus Oath Coat of Arms.

Great idea. I will add this to our Norpac-Santas meetings.

This is impossible for me in the UK as there are no groups. But I have recitied it myself, althoug my wife told me that talking to myself is the first sign of madness! I have signed it and sent it off to be included in the latest edition of "The Book" and I have printed it out, signed it and have it framed and hanging on the wall in my study.

Why not start a local group?

I like the idea, but being Father Christmas is nowhere near as popular over here as it is in the USA. There are a mere handful of people who take it seriously and I suspect that they are members of ClausNet. But sheer distance prevents any meaningful meetings. The rest of those who "play" (and I use the word advisedly) Father Christmas are, compared to our standrads, appalling. Terrible suits, terrible beards and the like. I love the idea, but it really is impractical in the UK.
