[Elf Without Jingles]

Well, those of you who haven't heard, Ralph McQuarrie, the man whose incredible and fantastic drawings and spectacular artwork shaped the Star Wars Saga into what it is today, died over the weekend at his Berkeley, California home. He was 82. Without those fantastic iconic pre-production portraits, I don't think Alan Ladd, Jr., who at the time --- 1974 --- was head of production at 20th Century-Fox, wouldn't have taken the chance he did with young George Lucas.

And now, word has reached me that Robert B. Sherman, brother of Richard M. Sherman, and one-half of the Academy Award-winning songwriting duo that shaped the music of Disney, for better or for worse, has died at his home in London, England, at the age of 86. Needless to say, this Tuesday has not been supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, given that we've lost two Very Important Guys who made major-league contributions to making not only my own childhood come alive, but also those of millions and millions of others across the cosmos, including those of us here at ClausNET.
