Introduction
ClausNET.com is firm in its commitment to protecting members’ privacy. At no time will any member information be sold or disclosed to another party except where it is necessary to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

Scope of Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy relates solely to the ClausNET web site and forums and does not cover any other sites linked to, or which are used by ClausNET to provide specific services.

Logged Activity
When you view a page on ClausNET, data such as your; IP address, browser, operating system (OS), date and time are stored in a log file for the purposes of statistical analysis. This information is never passed on or used in any other way.

When posting on ClausNET, your current IP address is recorded against your post and is viewable by the administration team. Certain activates within the forums, such as editing and deleting posts are also recorded in a Moderators log file which can be viewed by the administrator. This records your username, IP address, a brief description of the action, and the time. This is a standard security practice amongst many community web sites and is only ever used on ClausNET to investigate suspicious accounts and activities within the forums.

Cookies
The use of cookies on ClausNET allows users to carry information across different pages. These cookies are small text files that do not contain any personal information; they serve only to improve your experience of this site. Cookies are not used to track or identify users for any other purpose. When you visit ClausNET, our web server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only:

Database
In order for this system to work, all your posts and other communications using this system have to be stored in a database. This database can only be accessed by the site administrators and the private contents of the database will not be disclosed to anyone; your passwords are encrypted and can not be viewed.

Passwords
Passwords are encrypted in the site database. They cannot be retrieved by anyone. It is your responsibility to keep your password safe. If you forget your password you can request a new one to be sent to you.

Email
ClausNET requires that you maintain a valid email address in your profile at all times for the purpose of validating and distinguishing active and dead accounts. Your email address is not visible in your profile and at no time will we ever sell or pass on your email address to any third party.

From time to time administrators may wish to send out email notices. You may opt out of these notices via the user control panel at any time, however in the case of important “service” messages such as system updates or account validation messages, the admin may choose to override this option.

If you choose to send an email to another member, your email address will be visible to the member when they read the email.
