New Toy Shop Tartan

Toledo Santa Tom

Recommended Posts

(I'm posting on behalf of Santa Kona --Santa Tom)

I would like to introduce you to a new and additional Tartan for the Society. This new design is already registered with their governing bodies in Scotland it is called Santa’s Toy Shop CCS was created by me. This does not replace the Claus of the North Pole tartan designed by Bruce Arnold. It is not uncommon for clans to have more than one tartan design. I’m a Chieftain with Clan Kennedy of NA and we have three tartans we have an ancient a hunting and our modern if you put them all side-by-side they don’t remotely look alike. The Toy Shop Tartan is more subdued in colors something you would expect to be seen as work wear. A lot of Santa’s today are wearing aprons and looking more like they are right out of there toy shop. The Claus of the North Pole will now be designated as our formal or dress tartan. However there’s nothing to say that you can’t use Santa’s Toy Shop tartan for your dress occasions.

The price for 30 meters is $59.12.  The price for 60 meters is $49.63.  Please don't forget about the shipping cost and import tariff

Tartan Ordering Process

You must be an official member of The Clan Claus Society to order tartan.

To place a tartan order we must order a minimum of 30 meters at a time. The entire order must be the same weight we normally order (13oz but can get 16oz also). The fabric is double wide approximately, 140cm (55”Inches). Tartan takes anywhere from 8 - 12 weeks to weave depending on how busy the mill is at the time we place the order.

Here is the process:

1) You are responsible for your correct measurements and your correct yardage amounts.  I would suggest that you work with a kilt maker for this.  Measure twice!

2) If you don’t have a kilt maker, contact  USA Kilts www.usakilts.com or John Higgins at www.jhiggins.net they will help you out. We have worked out an arrangement with each vendor and they will accept your own supplied tartan. You must tell them that you will be sending them your Clan Claus Society tartan.

3) Individual tartan orders must be paid in full and are not refundable. I must pay for the tartan in full when I place the order.  You will only pay for the fabric in advance.  Shipping will be billed separately.

4) If you are planning to pay via Pay Pal the 3% fee from Pay Pal will be added to your order.

5) The price for tartan depends the current mill pricing at the time of the order.

6) All the tartan will initially be shipped to me, (the mill will not drop ship to anyone else).

7) Shipping: There will be two (2) shipping cost In addition to the import tariff.

     A) First shipping cost is from the mill to me.  This will be shared equally by all those ordering fabric.
B)Second shipping cost will be from me to you and will be specific to your order.
C)Tartan will not be shipped out until the shipping charges are paid.

Once I receive the tartan, I must check all of the fabric to make sure there are no issues. I will then cut it and ship it to you.

NOTE:

To place your order contact me using my direct email santakona@gmail.com. Supply me with your name, current address, email and your phone number along with the total number of meters you would like to order. To insure your order is received do not message me through Facebook or on ClausNet. .

    • 10 Essentials to Being a Better Santa
Here are some DOs and DON'Ts on being Santa

      Treat every child with respect.

Never make fun of a child.

Look into the child’s eyes when you speak to them.

Speak softly. Children are sharing confidences with you.

Acknowledge a child’s requests even if you don’t understand them.

Never promise a toy request to avoid a child’s disappointment.

Never promise a pet. Santas a toymaker and only animals produce pets.

If the child can’t remember their wish list, assure them you know what they want.

Never leave a child wondering if Santa heard their Christmas wishes.

Every child worries about being on Santas “Naughty or Nice List”. Tell each child “You’re on the “Nice List.” It will bring happiness to everyone!

    • How do You Portray Santa?
Portraying Santa is acting; it is a characterization of a mythical character.

Most of us never think of ourselves as actors, but we are. Certain characteristics of Santa Claus have been handed down from one generation to another. The way we dress and conduct ourselves all follow an established pattern.

Santa Claus is one of the most recognizable characters throughout the world. This came about from the advertising campaign of the Coke Cola Company and the creative painting genius, of Haddon Sundblom. Coke Cola was looking to increase winter sales of its soft drink and hired Sundblom to produce illustrations for prominent magazines. These illustrations appeared during the holiday season from the late 1930s into the early 1970s and set the standard for how Santa should look.

This characterization of Santa with rosy cheeks, a white beard, handlebar mustache plus a red costume trimmed in white fur is the image most everyone has in their minds. Unconsciously people are going to judge you against that image. If your beard isn’t white or you have a soiled suit it will register with the onlooker.

By the way, the majority of Sundblom's paintings depict Santa with a Brown Belt and Brown Boots. Not until his later illustrations did he change the color to Black for these items. Within the past few years many costume companies have offered the Coke Cola Suit and it has become very popular. You can tell it by the large buttons and absence of fur down the front of the jacket.

No matter how you portray Santa, be it home visits, schools, churches, parades, corporate events, malls, hospitals we all make an entrance and an impression! The initial impression we make determines if our client will ask us to return.

      The 5 Second Rule

I have a theory: When you enter the presence of your audience you have about 5 seconds to make people believe you are the real Santa.

    • Not Everyone Can Be Santa!
Yes, I said it and it is not meant to hurt anyone’s feelings. I do view many Facebook sites along with websites and posted photos. Frankly, many of these postings should have never been put on public display.

    • Auld Lang Syne
Every New Year’s Eve at the stroke of midnight, millions around the world traditionally gather together to sing the same song, “Auld Lang Syne”. As revilers mumble though the song’s versus, it often brings many of them to tears – regardless of the fact that most don’t know or even understand the lyrics. Confusion over the song’s lyrics is almost as much of a tradition as the song itself. Of course that rarely stops anyone from joining in.

    • Is it time to start calling out Bad Santas?
Is it time to start calling out Bad Santas?

Do you think we should start calling out those in our community whose actions or behavior is unbecoming of Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus?
